Anahi Ramos, a senior student at Granite Hills High School, is known around campus for playing soccer and being the girls’ varsity team captain.
Growing up in Porterville, Ramos has always been passionate about soccer and becoming a teacher.
At 17 years old, Ramos balances school and her love for soccer.
Ramos shines in the classroom, with English being her favorite subject.
Outside of academics, she is involved in soccer, where the team won a CIF Central Section championship last season.
Her favorite teacher, Ms. Cantu, has inspired her because she’s a very hardworking and passionate teacher.
“Anahi is a very hard worker,” Cantu said. “I’ve seen her grow and mature through the three years I’ve had her. She’s very respectful and sweet to her classmates and me.”
This year, Ramos is determined to accomplish her goal of taking her team to another championship win.
When Ramos isn’t focused on school, she enjoys reading and taking pictures.
Inspired by her parents, she aspires to make them proud.
“My parents are always there for me and show their support for every decision I make,” Ramos said.
Something unique about Ramos is her personality, which makes her stand out.
Despite facing challenges like keeping up with grades, Ramos has shown resilience by seeking out help whenever it’s needed.
Ramos is surrounded by friends who share their passion for wanting to go into the education field.
They are an active part of the school community, participating in Rotary Interact Breakfast Club and MEChA.
On weekends, Ramos enjoys going out shopping, which helps her unwind after a busy week.
Ramos dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher and is working hard toward that goal.
She plans to attend college after high school.
In 10 years, she sees herself having a stable job and a happy family.
As Ramos says, “Las cosas siempre cambian, el mundo cambia, la gente cambia, todo cambia excepto lo bueno,’ this quote perfectly reflects their outlook on life.
Translated to English, this quote means, “Things change, the world changes, people change, everything changes except the good things.”
