Sabrina Carpenter is at it again.
After releasing her Grammy-winning album Short and Sweet on Aug. 23, 2024, Carpenter released yet another album almost a year later, titled “Man’s Best Friend.”
For anyone who has been sleeping under a rock, Carpenter has grown in popularity over all social media platforms, boasting 49.1 million followers on Instagram and over 76.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Carpenter’s rise to fame didn’t happen overnight. This is something that has been happening for quite some time now.
Carpenter grew to fame, starting as an actor on the Disney Channel. She starred in movies like Tall Girl 1 and 2, Clouds, Adventures in Babysitting, and many more. Adventures in Babysitting was her debut movie in 2011.
Acting may have been how many of us got to know Carpenter, but her music career has also taken off.
Carpenter has always been a singer and began taking vocal classes at the age of six. When she got to the age of 10, she began posting song covers on YouTube.
Carpenter has always been very lovable and easy to like, whether it’s her songs, her as an actress, or her overall aesthetic. Carpenter isn’t like any other female artist; she has such a beautiful, fun country girl pop vibe, which really showcases her overall persona.
During her Short and Sweet Tour, Carpenter began to get a lot of recognition for the details, dedication, and overall performance, down to the outfits, the hair, the makeup, and dances.
Every opening of each show, Carpenter had a custom-made bedazzled corset body suit; these weren’t just anybody’s suits, they were colorful, blinding, and overall stunning to just look at. Having these fun bodysuit reveals at each concert made it very exciting for those attending, who were wondering what colors would be revealed.
Needless to say, Carpenter’s acting, singing, and performances have made her one of the biggest stars on the planet, which made her release of Man’s Best Friend highly anticipated.
Man’s Best Friend broke records on social media with millions of streams.
The song Manchild had over 447,000,000 streams on Spotify at one point, being the most-streamed song of the entire album. Manchild is a beautifully written song that discusses how men can be childish in their actions and self-preservation. Regardless of the dark, humorous meaning behind the song, Manchild has a very fun and uplifting beat that guarantees you to get off your feet.
There are many hits on Man’s Best Friend, like Tears, with over 198,000,000 streams. Tears is another type of song that will get you dancing with an edginess that really adds to the emotion and character of the overall song. These two viral streaming songs will get you jumping off your feet, regardless of the lyrics and comedy.
Carpenter then switches the tone of the music, which was a really drastic change from the opening songs to the middle/ending of the album. With over 124,000,000 streams, Nobody’s Son still has that fun pop star Sabrina vibe, but the lyrics and overall tone of the song are different, yet a good different. Nobody’s Son is very emotional and very well written, expressing the way she feels about her recent ex and past relationships.
Overall, Man’s Best Friend is a well-written album, from the vocals to the lyrics to the rhythm. If you’re looking for a fun and energetic album, I would definitely recommend Carpenter’s latest production. This album deserves a 9/10 rating.
