Melany Acevedo Garcia, who is a 17-year-old senior at Granite Hills High School. Acevedo is involved in the Law, Justice, and Ethics Pathway and sports. She is a member of the girls cross country and soccer teams. She decided to join Journalism because she wants opportunities to be able to learn and interact with other people. After high school, she plans to pursue a career in law enforcement, following in her sister’s steps.

Acevedo was born in Porterville but was raised in Michoacán, Mexico, through fourth grade. She enjoys reading books. Her favorite book genre would be teen romance. Two of her favorite authors are Tillie Cole and Laura Nowlin. She tends to enjoy romance movies. Her top two favorite movies would be The Notebook and Me Before You.
