Feeling not so festive after the holidays? Is it because of weight gain? Lose the holiday weight with sustainable strategies that are sure to work. By focusing on the big three – movement, healthy habits, and food choices – those extra pounds gained throughout the holiday season can go bye-bye.
You can begin to notice the small changes when it comes to challenging yourself. By starting off small, over time, the progress will pay off. With patience, everything is possible. Aside from patience, a big key to a healthier lifestyle is how to adjust your diet. This does not mean a change overnight. Replace a couple of unhealthy foods that are in your diet with healthier options. This does not mean you have to completely cut out fatty foods but cut back and tweak your diet.
By setting a realistic goal for yourself, it is more likely that you will accomplish it. Consistency is key when it comes to weight fluctuation. Studies have shown that once a person begins something consistently, naturally it will become a part of their everyday active routine.
When it comes to weight loss, dieting is a very important aspect to consider. Many people believe that cutting out certain elements from their diet has significantly helped them.
“High protein, low calories,” Granite Hills science teacher Mr. Bravo said. “Stuff like chicken and beef but I lower the calories as much as I can. I keep out seed oils.”
By moderating the intake of each food category and eliminating those extra calories, you will be able to see results.
Splurging is very common when it comes to one of the negative effects of trying to diet. With cravings and delicious snacks calling your name, it is important to know what to do when this happens. A tip that Mr.Bravo uses is he will try his hardest to avoid eating any type of junk food throughout the weekdays and on the weekends let himself have a snack. He also believes fasting one day out of the week will be used towards his calorie intake on the weekends.
Since holidays do consist of a lot of food and a lot of unhealthy foods, it is important to set a goal for yourself. Tips from the public were to work out throughout the entire week with no excuses so that this would somewhat cancel out the bad foods.
Exercise does not mean intense all-around body movement. Exercise can be tracked and placed under many categories. There are many simple tasks that can be accomplished. Something as little as an afternoon stroll after a meal can go a long way.
“I try to do at least an hour of exercise – 30 minutes on my elliptical bike in sets of three with workouts in between,” Bravo said. “I do this four times a week.”
Losing weight after the holidays is never the happiest experience but it helps create consistent healthy habits that will ultimately make you feel much better. Be sure to incorporate healthier habits and always be mindful of how you use your time.
