Diego Morales is a senior at Granite Hills High School.
He is known for playing baseball and being an amazing student in class. Growing up in Porterville, Morales has always been passionate about old trucks. At 17 years old, Morales balances school and his love for baseball and fixing his truck up. He shines in the classroom, with math being his favorite subject.
Outside of academics, he is involved in baseball, where he has achieved the Coaches Award and Most Improved Player. His favorite teacher is DLP aka Mr. De La Peña who has inspired Morales more than any teacher on campus.
“I chose DLP because we are really close since we both love baseball,” Morales said. “Another reason is that he chose me for the student of the month since we both had a good bond.”
This year, Morales is determined to accomplish his goals by keeping a 4.0 GPA. He also wants to decide on a career path. He has it in mind to be an electrician, welder, or civil engineer.
When Morales isn’t focused on school, he enjoys working on his truck and playing his accordion. He is inspired by his parents and his family. Something unique about Morales is that he is compatible with everyone.
Morales is surrounded by friends who share their passion for clothes, trucks, and more. He is an active part of the school community, participating in baseball during the spring season. On weekends, Morales enjoys relaxing, which helps him unwind after a busy week.
“Almost every weekend, I wash my truck and my parents’ cars,” Morales said.
He also does simple chores outside the house on Saturdays. On Sunday, he goes to church with his family.
He plans to attend Fresno State or go to trade school after high school.
In 5-10 years, Morales says, “I see myself having a house, a wife, starting a family, and being happy in my career”.
Morales likes to live by the quote, “el que no arriesga no gana en la vida,” which means “whoever doesn’t risk anything, doesn’t win in life.”
