Meet your Homecoming nominees

Here are your 2024-25 Granite Hills Homecoming nominees. The Homecoming football game will be Oct. 4 and the king and queen will be announced at halftime of the game.

“People should vote for me for Homecoming queen because I am very involved, I am the president for Folklorico, I am in ASB, and a part of many clubs. I also never fail to show my school spirit. I hope you vote for me.” – Julissa Lopez

“I feel like people should vote for me because I’m nice and I try to keep everyone involved and feel that they have a place in this school. I’m also really involved in school, I am the ACE pathway ambassador. That’s why you should vote for me.” – Abril Soltero

“People should vote for me because I am a very involved student, I’ve been a student-athlete all my four years, I’ve been part of the program the girls soccer team, I’ve been captain for my sophomore and junior year, I am part of ASB, I’m part of the spirit club, I’m the vice president, I’m this year’s yearbook editor, and I’m part of GTV. I feel like I am a great fit to be your queen for the Homecoming of the class of 2025.” – Angie Torres

“People should vote for me because I’m a 4-year student-athlete. I played wrestling, football, baseball and track. I’m a student-athlete all around basically.” – Diego Garay

“People should vote for me because I make an amazing Homecoming queen candidate. I am very active and not only in my sports, clubs and internships but I also am very very dedicated to this campus and my fellow classmates as well. I dedicate a lot of time to not just this school but also to each spirit day and I am grateful for any opportunity I get to make this campus be the best.” – Alina Soto

“People should vote for me because I am involved in school, I am in GTV and yearbook. I’m also involved in sports such as soccer and football. I feel like I would make a great king for the class of 24-25.” – Carlos Zavala

Salvador German Rico

“I’m involved in varsity soccer and track. I’m also a part of the Grizzly marching band. I play the trumpet and I’m also in the ACE Pathway.” – Salvador German Rico

“I think I would be a good candidate for Homecoming queen because I’m involved in the ACE Pathway as well as GTV.” – Lourdes Guzman

Sarai Maciel Lemus, Freshman Staff Writer

Sarai Maciel Lemus is a freshman at Granite Hills High School. Born in Porterville, Calif., she enjoys playing soccer and would love to try out when the girls soccer season begins. She enjoys going to Target with her close friends, trying new drinks at Starbucks, and spending time with family. She also loves listening to music. Some of her favorite artists are Ivan Cornejo, Edicion Especial, Frank Ocean, and Junior H. Sarai goes to Mexico every year in summer and during Christmas to visit family. She loves to go out and eat. Her favorite food places are Wingstop and In-N-Out Burger. She loves animals and dreams to be a veterinarian in the future. Although she enjoys being at Granite Hills she would’ve loved to enjoy her high school years with her best friends by her side, but unfortunately, they had to separate after middle school. “La vida es bonita pero hay que saberla vivir” - Ivan Cornejo

Brenda Herrera, Junior Staff Writer

Brenda Denise Herrera is a junior at Granite Hills High School. Herrera loves to listen to music as it helps her concentrate and get rid of her anxiety. She loves to hangout with her friends and family. When spending time with them, she has the happiest moments in life and wouldn’t trade them for the world. She is a shy girl who one day wants to make her family proud by walking across the stage and getting the future she hopes to have. Brenda always has time for things that will help her become a better person. After high school, she hopes to become an ultrasound technician or start her own business. Brenda hopes to attend UC Merced for the diagnostic medical sonography program. If the ultrasound technician plan doesn’t work out she will have her own business of either a nail technician, lash technician, or something similar. She doesn't plan to become a failure in life as she will continue to try her hardest. An inspirational quote that helps her get through things is, “Todos tenemos un lado de nosotros que ocultamos, no lo vemos hasta invertir tanto tiempo.” - Ivan Cornejo. This has helped her because she can't wait to see the outcome at the end when she has achieved all her goals.

Alex Vargas, Senior Staff Writer

Alex David Vargas is a senior at Granite Hills High School. Vargas is the senior class representative and former freshman class vice president. He does it all, waking up every morning to attend school, participating in school events with the Granite Hills ASB class, and going to work. Alex hopes to attend the University of California Santa Barbara after graduating where he hopes to continue to grow as a person. Alex tries to make time for the things he loves throughout his busy schedule. When he is not at school or at work, he is at home doing homework, listening to music, shopping, going to concerts, etc. He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends. When going out with friends, they enjoy going to Cane's and eating some chicken fingers and fries with toast and Cane's sauce.
