Finding the right Halloween costume can be difficult for high school students. Trying to find a trendy costume without being too obvious can be a challenge.
With Halloween right around the corner, it is a great opportunity for students to show off their creativity by either buying a ready-to-go costume or buying different items to put a costume together.
Every year, there are new and trendy costumes for people to try. This year’s trendy costumes include:
Labubus: For those who like going out in dress up for Halloween, Labubus are very attention-catching dolls. They may require some crafting activity with clay or other materials to recreate their features. For those who want to go the easy way, you can look for some good, affordable options on online shopping apps like SHEIN, Amazon, or eBay. Some costumes range from $30-$100, depending on the quality and the platform you’re buying on.
Kpop demon hunters: These costumes could be easily Do It Yourself (DIY) or bought off Amazon. You can easily replicate this look. The prices range from $20-$50.
The Lorax: This would be a great, easy, and funny costume for Halloween. You could either go with some body paint or buy an orange suit. Amazon and SHEIN offer all kinds of full suits ranging from $10-$30.
Wednesday Adams: This is a very simple costume. All you need is a black dress with a white collar, black tights, and braided pigtails. Most of these items can be found at whatever clothing store nearby.
The chipmunks/chipettes: This is the most exciting costume, very typical to see every year in a friend group. You would just need matching hoodies and accessories that represent each member or the group.
Granite Hills senior Hailey Perez plans on dressing up as Raven from Teen Titans for Halloween.
“I am getting most of my costume online from Amazon and Shein,” she said. “I’m getting a cape online and a couple of accessories like belts and gloves.”
Those costumes can be ready to go at the purchase point, but for those who don’t want to spend a lot of money, here are some DIY ideas.
Deer: Being a deer requires a bit of brown face paint and a brown outfit. These can be found online or at the nearest store to you. It should all be under $20.
Black cat: For cat lovers or an easy DIY, we have a black cat. These are pretty simple to come up with. You could either wear a full black suit or a full black outfit from your closet. And don’t forget the whiskers. Face paint is available at the closest dollar store, or you could always opt for an easy option and even use an eyeliner pencil.
Trixie from Subway Surfers: This is the most affordable and easiest costume. It is very easy to replicate and pretty recognizable. The DIY for this costume would be a white t-shirt, baggy jeans.
Zombie: Use old clothes, rip or stain them, and use makeup or face paint to create that creepy look. A great place to find this kind of thing would be your local dollar stores or Walmart. You may find some good amounts under $5.
Ghost: This is an easy costume, and it takes as much as a plain white sheet, and cut-out eye holes
Granite Hills senior Ava Garay will be putting her costume together herself.
“My Halloween costume will be Pam’s Halloween costume from the show The Office,” Garay said. “It is pretty much just going to be black tights, a black skirt, and a black long-sleeve shirt. The black cat ears I bought them off Amazon.”
Whether you decide to buy a trendy costume or put one together yourself, Halloween is the perfect time to get creative and have fun with friends.
