It’s officially spooky season! Halloween is one of the best times of the year because it’s the perfect excuse to stay up late to watch scary movies and eat candy. Whether you like jump scares, creepy stories, or those based on a true story, this is the perfect time of the year to watch scary movies. Here are my top 10 horror movies that I think everyone should watch.
1. In the Tall Grass
In the Tall Grass is a movie about a brother and sister who go into a huge field of tall grass after hearing a boy calling for help. But once they go in, they realize they can’t find their way out, and something very strange is happening inside. I enjoyed watching this movie because I never knew what was going to happen next.
2. Night Swim
This movie is about a family who moves into a house with a pool, but the pool has a dark secret. Every time someone goes swimming at night, scary things happen. I thought this movie was very interesting because something as normal as a pool could be scary. It made me never want to go in a pool again.
3. The Conjuring 2
This movie is based on the true story of two investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, who help out a single mom and her children. One of the daughters appears to be possessed by the spirit of an old man. I liked this movie because, knowing that it was based on a real event, it became more interesting to watch.
4. The Corpse Bride
This movie is about a man named Victor who is arranged to marry Victoria. While rehearsing his vows in the woods, he places the wedding ring on a branch, which ends up being a skeletal finger of a dead woman. The woman ends up taking Victor to the Land of the Dead. I continue to watch this movie because it’s a good movie to watch when it’s a gloomy day outside.
5. Smile
This is about a doctor named Dr. Rose Cotter, who works as a psychiatrist in a hospital emergency room. One day, she meets a traumatized patient who told her she was haunted by an evil entity. During their session, the patient ends up killing herself in front of Rose with a horrifying, unnatural smile on her face. After this Rose starts to experience disturbing hallucinations she stumbles upon people with the same unnatural smile.
6. SAW
The original Saw movie is said to be one of the most disturbing movies to watch. It is about two men who wake up chained in a dirty bathroom with a dead body. There are many parts to this movie. It was filmed in 2004, and the last sequel was in the year 2023. Make sure to watch all the Saw movies.
7. It
In a place called Derry, Maine, kids started to disappear. A group of kids confronted a terrifying shape-shifting clown named Pennywise. Facing their biggest fears, they try to stop the evil and protect their town. The remake of the Stephen King novel is a spooky fun watch.
8. Annabelle Creation
A group of orphans doesn’t have a place to stay and is offered a place in the middle of nowhere. One orphan finds a strange room locked and is told not to go inside. But one night her curiosity got to her, and she went to open the room, and it was unlocked. Once she walked in, she noticed a door hidden behind wallpaper, and soon uncovered the reason why she wasn’t allowed in the room.
9. The Nun
It all started when one nun was found hanged outside a church. A week later, a Nun was sent to investigate what had happened to uncover the truth. Once she got there, she went to where the nun had hung herself and found a fresh puddle of blood on the steps to the church. She took this as a bad sign because this shows that an evil force is actively corrupting the sacred grounds. She soon finds what entity has been haunting the church.
10. Five Nights at Freddy’s
Mike Schmidt is looking for a job after being fired as a security guard in the mall after a misunderstanding. His attention is then directed to a career counselor offering him a job as a night shift security guard at a closed-off location. Due to a desperate need for a job, he takes the offer, hoping for peace and a paycheck. Later, to find out that when the lights go out, the animatronics come out to play, yet they don’t just roam the restaurant; they come out to hunt.
