High school is filled with unforgettable moments that shape who we are. From exciting events to everyday laughs with friends, each student has their own standout memory. I took a walk around campus to find out what memories our classmates will cherish most.
“My favorite memory from high school was being able to be part of the Winter Line for the Grizzly Band. I was able to share fun moments I made with my peers from our practices, see our growth throughout our season, and be able to earn a medal for being top 3 at the PPAACC Finals. A quote I would use to describe this season would be “The final notes fade, but the legacy of our show continues.”- Sergio Baez
” My favorite memory in high school is being able to go to my champion swim meet at Bakersfield with my relay team because I had lots of fun seeing everyone else swimming and having fun.”- Carlos Lara Villa
“My favorite memory of high school is probably during my junior year. We had just finished the Porterville College course, so we had nothing to do. We spent the rest of the class having a drawing contest. I had so much fun and made lots of memories that day.” – Ava Angco
“My favorite memory is running to the lunch line with my friend Sergio every Monday through Friday for the school pizza.”- Rocio Tecuapa
“One of the best high school memories comes from spending time with my close friends during lunch breaks or after school. We would play Uno at almost every hangout and mostly during lunch breaks. I’m so going to miss it. Sharing our inside jokes and laughing until our stomach hurts made even my toughest days so much easier to get through.” – Gomana Abdulkarem
“My favorite memory in high school would have to be being a Hoco candidate. Ever since COVID happened, I thought I wouldn’t be able to experience high school in person. The thought of not being able to do any high school activities made me sad at the thought of it. But I believe the day that I found out I was a candidate made up for the many moments I wished to have experienced in high school. It was the best experience and will forever be my favorite memory.” – Julissa Lopez Contreras
“My favorite memory in high school overall is being able to join ASB. I really enjoyed the moments where we just got together and bonded while setting up for a rally or game nights. It is such a memorable experience that I’m grateful to have.”- Natalie Contreras
“My favorite memory in high school will always be winning the Valley Championship in soccer my freshman year. I remember it so clearly, like it was yesterday. We ended up winning the game 2-1 against Sierra Pacific. The moment the referee blew the final whistle, everyone ran onto the field to celebrate, including our fans. Everyone was jumping up and down, the vibes were high, it felt like a dream.”- Anthony Alcantar
“One of my favorite memories in high school was when some of the football team went to the lake. We were able to grow as a family and a team, creating stronger bonds that were shown on and off the field.” – Joseph Ramirez
“The best experience of high school was being able to grow out of my shell. When I first started high school, I was a very shy and quiet person, keeping to myself. I feel as though I have grown in myself, become more extroverted, and talk to a lot more people now than I ever did.” – Rodrigo Millan Alejo
“My favorite memory of high school is joining the Color Guard because I got to be more outgoing and I got to create a lot of bonds with different people from color guard.” – Yaqueline Lupercio
“My favorite memory in high school was definitely volunteering for the Special Needs Prom. Being able to get together as a community and show our support meant so much to me. I loved being able to make someone smile, even for a night. This event is definitely one for the books. I would do it all over again.” – Joanna Molina
“My favorite memory of high school has to be becoming ASB president. When I became president, I was able to learn a lot more about myself and be able to model for our underclassmen. And a huge perk about being the president is being able to speak at graduation.” – Abraham Navarette
“My favorite memory in high school has to be the band’s spring concert. I love everything about this event. I love how connected we are with all the other students. After I was done performing, I was very happy that everybody walked up to me and was very nice to me. I had friends and teachers come to support me during the performance. It was the best.”- Eva Episheva
“My favorite memory about high school is going to all the football games with my friends. This is because of the fun times we had cheering on the team, as well as the times that we went to go grab food after the games and enjoyed a midnight snack. I also enjoyed when we would all get together and we would go out to get food as a group. I also enjoyed being with them and hanging out with them.” – Alejandro Izaguirre
“My favorite memory was the day we went to Valley. It was nice to see how far me my teammates and made it. It also wasn’t for one event, it was two events. But that day was the most exciting and memorable day.” – Arturo Rodriguez Cervantes

“My favorite memory throughout all of high school was when I was a freshman, barely starting out in high school. I’m grateful that I have the opportunity to be a freshman varsity starter for the GHHS soccer team. My absolute favorite and memorable memories will always be winning Valley freshman and senior year.”- William Ruiz Marquez
“My favorite memories in high school have been all the work days with ASB. We’d stay up late, blasting music while decorating and running around. We’d laugh a lot and make dumb jokes, or we’d have deep convos that made me get so much closer to everyone. Being in ASB has changed me a lot, I’ve matured, grown as a leader, and gotten much more confident.” – Nina Pandilovska
“My favorite memory as a senior has been winning Hoco Queen and creating so many beautiful and memorable memories with my boyfriend and friends.” – Angie Torres
