Aylin Ceballos is a freshman ACE Pathway student at Granite Hills High School.
Ceballos is known for playing sports like soccer, and volleyball, and doing art in her free time. Growing up in Porterville, Ceballos has always been passionate about volleyball.
At 15 years old, Ceballos shines in the classroom, with biology being her favorite subject. She says it’s pretty easy to understand the concept of living things and ecosystems. Outside of academics, she is involved in community service and has done internships in the past.
Her favorite teacher, Mr. Marquez has inspired her.
“He knows what to say for us to stay on top of our grades by telling us that we need to help ourselves,” Ceballos said. “He’s a strict but chill teacher.“
This year, Ceballos is determined to improve her GPA by staying on task in class and being more involved in school activities. She plans on trying out for the volleyball team next year. When Ceballos isn’t focused on school, she enjoys doing nails and listening to music.
She is inspired by her older cousin Genesis Gonzalez because she shows her how to be independent and mature without having someone to always depend on. Her cousin has always been by her side, supporting her through everything. She aims to be like her one day.
Something unique about Ceballos is that she is a very forgiving person and doesn’t like to hold grudges.
Despite facing challenges like letting people go, Ceballos has shown resilience by learning that it is important to always trust yourself before trusting someone else.
Ceballos is surrounded by friends who share her passion for going out and spending time together. She’s not in any clubs, yet, but starting this year she wants to join more clubs and do sports. On weekends, Ceballos enjoys going out to eat with family and doing fun activities together, which helps her unwind after a busy week.
Ceballos dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher and is working hard towards that goal. After high school, she plans to attend Porterville College for two years and then transfer to Fresno State. In 10 years, she sees herself living in her own house with her own car and being an elementary school teacher.
As Ceballos says, “You’ll never know who you are unless you shed who you pretend to be.” This quote perfectly reflects her outlook on life.
