The Granite Hills associated student body hosted its annual Granite Hills Turkey Bowl earlier this week.
It was deja vu all over again with the teachers and staff beating members of the football team 18-12 for their third straight win.
“These spoon-fed new gens can’t keep up with these old heads,” said coach and campus supervisor David Ramirez.
The Turkey Bowl was supposed to be played before Thanksgiving but was postponed because of bad weather to Monday, Dec. 2.
The football team set the tone early, with Diego Garay coming out hot with the students’ first touchdown.
The teachers did not take the touchdown lying down, quickly responding with their very own touchdown by head football coach Carl Scudder.
Joseph Magana, an up-and-coming sophomore, made an amazing interception on quarterback Mr. De La Pena. After the interception, the football team used the opportunity to score their second touchdown by Magana.
Coach David Ramirez decided to take matters into his own hands and scored a touchdown on Armando Robledo to tie the game to 12-12.
The game reached the end of its climax with both sidesĀ not willing to give in. However, the teachers pulled ahead, with Mr. Kasimoff scoring the game-winning touchdown.
The football players were not happy with the way the game ended.
“The teachers had a big zebra on their side,” senior Antonio Moreno said. “Mr. Salazar was team teacher.”
